“I was reminded about Kurt’s saying that he told me two and a half years ago when I first joined this group. He said, ‘AJ, you have 1000 bad drawings to get through. Stick with me and I’ll get them out of you.’ Well, I can testify that what he told me was the truth. I literally have nine 100-page notebooks filled with drawings and over 100 digital drawings. That adds up to a little over 1000. The first drawing on this post was actually done before I joined this group. I was reading “Drawing with the Right Side of the Brain” by Betty Edwards. And this was my self-portrait the book starts you with. Then I found this wonderful group here. And, well, a little over 1000 drawings later, you have the second drawing. I’d probably be rated as an intermediate artist now, but miles ahead of the artist I was two and a half years ago. Stick with Kurt! And if you can afford it, join The Daily Draw. It helped me so much in my studies. Just to be clear, I’m writing this of my own accord because I really believe The Daily Draw helped me so much. But nonetheless, 1000 bad drawings. Stick with it, even if you feel like you’re not getting anywhere.
